Student Life

“BSW is friendly and very creative. You learn a lot while having a fun time.” BSW student

Being a British School of Washington student is special; it means that you are part of an international learning community and have access to a wealth of educational experiences. Alongside friends from all over the world, BSW students are inspired to achieve more and free to be themselves.

As a BSW student, you enjoy lessons that are exciting, varied and relevant to the world you live in. You are able to learn in the way that suits you best, and at your own pace, with plenty of individual attention from your teacher as well as the support of your classmates. You discover your own unique interests and talents, and experience new languages, the richness of the arts, fascinating science and world history. It’s a remarkable learning journey that includes plenty of chances to experience all that the capital city has to offer as well as adventures further afield.

Our school library is well resourced, with knowledgeable librarians ready to help further your learning in an intellectually and culturally open environment.  Contribute to the school newspaper, compete for your House, join the debate in our Model UN, lend your skills to good causes and experience an eclectic array of clubs and activities after school. Try something new while nurturing your talents.
So, what next? Once it’s time to move on, you’ll enjoy a world of opportunity. We’ll advise and support you as you make important choices about your future. BSW students are all able to progress to their college or university of choice, and all the interesting things you’ve done and fun experiences you’ve had at school will stand you in great stead.
