Educational Visits
To enrich our curriculum, we make excellent use of the unique cultural opportunities offered in a capital city. Educational excursions are organized regularly throughout the year to enhance your child’s learning experiences in the classroom. For the youngest students, this could be a trip to a local park or shop, while older students visit many of the downtown museums, theaters, important buildings such as the United States Capitol and the White House, or further sights such as Baltimore and Williamsburg. Students in Years 7 to 13 can also elect to take part in the Model U.N. Program.
In addition to day outings, longer overnight trips are offered to enhance the physical, emotional and social development of our students. Upper primary classes take excursions to Sheridan School Mountain Campus in Luray, Virginia, where they are challenged and inspired in a natural environment. A well-organized and energetic adventure program is offered where students are able to access the curriculum in a multi-sensory setting. The physical experiences enhance the children's learning both mentally and physically, with the aim of building confidence while becoming members of a close-knit, supportive community that respects individual needs and the natural environment.
